Quick Finish to Summer

Well, where have I been? Of course I am not a daily blogger, but we have been very busy the past few weeks so I haven't posted anything. But here goes. We hosted two girls from Belgium during the International Dance Festival. It was lots of fun, but very busy. I have learned that Root Beer is a totally American thing, and that people from other countries do not enjoy it like we do. Our kids really enjoyed having Annelies and Pakku visit with us and we enjoyed watching all the countries perform.

Soccer ended for -E- and -L-. They had fun. -E- played goalie and on defense.

-L- says she had fun but soccer is lots of running.

-K- wanted to play soccer too, so on the last night of games, she dressed in a pair of -L's- shorts, and shin guards, then because she does not have cleats, told me she was putting on "pretend cleats" I got a laugh out of the fact that she picked Sunday shoes!

Next we were off to the family reunion. We visited with aunts, uncles, and cousins, having a great time. We all enjoyed kayaking while we were there.

Our final event of the summer was a trip to my parents. -L- and -K- stayed with my cousin, while -N- and -E- came backpacking with Spalding, myself, my parents, two of my sisters, and my grandpa. It was fun for my kids to get to know their great grandpa. The kids did great on the hikes. We covered 13+ miles in the three days. Spalding had fun trying out my grandpa's hat and pistol.

In our hiking group we had 4 generations. It was lots of fun and definately a good way to end the summer. Sorry I don't have more picts, but my camera battery died and I haven't got copies of picts from my mom and sisters yet.
