Eagle Project!

My son has completed his Eagle Project. I am so proud of him. I waited to post about it until all the paperwork and signatures were done. He's been at Life Rank for a while, and was thinking about various ideas for projects. His first idea was to repair and repaint the bleachers at the Middle School Soccer field. He noticed their poor condition when he had soccer games there this last spring. He never got around to calling the school district to see if he could do that as a project, and then when he decided to, we noticed that the bleachers weren't there. Well, someone else did that as a project. We live in a community with a lot of youth, and a lot of scouts. So we decided to look around other places in the school district. I suggested that we go look at the baseball and softball fields. After looking at them, he decided that repairing and repainnting the backstops and benches for the fields would be a good idea. He talked to the School District, and they said someone else was working on Varsity Baseball field, so that left the JV baseball field, and JV and Varsity softball fields. Our kids get out of school for a harvest break in the fall, so that was the week he decided to do it. He had to do some fundraising, so he asked neighbors, and family to donate toward his project. We bought the new wood for the benches and backstops. He took off the old pieces and he had some of his fellow scouts help sand and paint. Then we put the new benches and backstops into place. It may not sound like much, but -N- put in a total of 21 hours himself, and the project took 56 total man hours. The fields look awesome and he did a great job.
