Our family has developed some Christmas traditions. They stem from many of my childhood experiences. They are things that Spalding and I want to keep doing. I have great memories of them. I found this great quote in an Ensign magazine that sums it up for me.
"Family traditions are like spiritual and emotional cement in the foundation of a happy home. They create fond memories, and these memories bond us together as nothing else can."
Thanks to my own parents, my sisters and I laugh and talk when we get together. Remember When........? We love to go over our memories and recall events. So in an effort to provide some spiritual and emotional cement to our family foundation, I am trying to pass some of the things we did as kids, down to my own kids.
So here goes Tradition #1. Building Graham Cracker houses.
We have shared this tradition with many friends. This year, I let each of my kids invite one friend over. 8 kids was plenty to handle.
So they took this:

and made it into this!

Lots of fun and sugar. Somehow we did it with minimal mess. The kids had a great time.

Wow, eight kids. You are way more brave than I am! It does look like fun though. We've bought those gingerbread house kits a few times, and they're fun - if you can make them stand up straight!
Your kids are so cute! I bet all the boys are crushing on E!
Good job on the ginger bread houses! I got to do that with my two boys at B's preschool. "Twas fun! Although S was more interested in eating the graham crackers.
They look great!! I'm a big fan of this tradition!
I miss this! I am now officially sad! P.S. I LOVE my gift--so awesome! Thank you Thank you! You are amazing!
Looks like fun! Maybe we should start that tradition.
I remember doing this with you as well. You have passed on some good traditions to us - like eating breakfast at midnight on new years! We sure miss you! Thanks for the awesome quote!
Okay - random comment - there are just moments when I see so much of the cousin of my youth in -E-. In her picture there is something that rings out that she is your daughter. I can't put my finger on the exact feature, but she is like unto her mother in that picture.
