The Big 1-1

Yes, -E- has had a birthday. She turned 11. I can hardly believe it. What happened to my round roly-poly baby and smiley, curly haired toddler? She is growing up into a beautiful girl. I made cupcakes for her class on her birthday, but since Spalding was out of town that night, she had her party another night. She invited some friends over to the house for pizza, then we were off to the bowling alley. The girls bowled a game and had a blast. Emma got a birthday bowling pin from the alley and all the girls signed it. We had cake, ice cream, and opened presents. Then I dropped the girls off at their homes. Happy Birthday!

Ok, the funny part about this whole party to me was when one of the boys from their class ended up coming to the bowling alley with his family. Apparently, he also has a crush on one of the girls who was at the party. The girls got all giggley and goofy, and constantly talked about him. I sat back and listened, wondering what do 5th grade girls think of 5th grade boys? Well, come to find out, there were a couple of boys and girls who gave chocolates and/or stuffed animals to the other for Valentine's day? AHHH! I am not ready for this. Please stop my children from getting any older! 5th grade is a little young, isn't it? I mean, do these kids have their own money to buy these things, or are parents buying it for them to give to a boy or girl? I guess it is just time to face the facts that I now have tweens. Scary. I am just feeling like I have ages birth to 10 down. Now I get to start thinking about teenagers.

Sorry, I just realized that this post sounds like it is all about me and my worries, instead of the birthday post it was supposed to be. Anyway, Happy Birthday -E-. we love you!

I am SO EXCITED that I have a girl. There is no way I would want the males in my house to miss out on being subjected to a group of giggling 11 yr old+ females!

But yes, you're right, it's also kind of terrifying. Good luck with that.
